Creative Workshop at Ocala Comic Con 2025: Highlights & Lessons Learned
At Ocala Comic Con 2025, Creative Workshop returned for our second year as an official partner. In this recap, we’re sharing what it was like for Creative Workshop at Ocala Comic Con 2025—from printing live T-shirts on-site to learning lessons that will shape how we grow in the future.
There’s something electric about fans walking away with brand-new apparel, still warm from the press. It’s the kind of interactive, branded moment we live for.
But behind the scenes (what you don’t see on our social feeds), even the best-laid plans can unravel. As the CEO, I’ll be the first to admit I aim for perfection every time. The reality? Conventions are unpredictable, and small hiccups can snowball fast.
Challenges for Creative Workshop at Ocala Comic Con 2025
This year tested us with a handful of curveballs:
-
Late DTF transfers. Our direct-to-film prints—essential for heat pressing designs—showed up 12 hours later than expected. That delay meant our road trip to Florida started behind schedule and our setup time shrank.
-
Missing artwork. Once we began setting up, we realized a portion of our artwork prints had never even made it into the shipment.
-
Lost apparel. Entire boxes of merchandise—like all of our tan long-sleeve shirts and a 3XL black hoodie—were lost in shipping limbo.
-
Mug mishaps. We introduced mugs this year, but our transfers didn’t stick to the curved surface the way we hoped. (Lesson learned: mugs are not as “plug-and-play” as they look!)
Were these disasters? Not quite. We’ve had to learn to adapt on the fly over the years. But as any event vendor knows, every minute counts. And when your promise is fresh, flawless merch, even small issues feel magnified.
Lessons Creative Workshop Learned at Ocala Comic Con 2025
The real value of setbacks is the lessons they leave behind. For us, OCC 2025 reinforced some important truths:
-
Be our own vendor. Outsourcing our DTF transfers left us vulnerable to delays. Bringing this process in-house is the next logical step.
-
Inventory early and often. Relying on last-minute shipments is a recipe for stress. Stocking our apparel well in advance gives us more control and fewer surprises.
-
Prototype everything. If a product hasn’t been tested thoroughly, it doesn’t belong at the booth. Mugs will make a comeback, but only after we’ve tested and perfected the process.
Adaptability is part of the Creative Workshop DNA. What started as panic moments turned into teachable ones, and we pivoted fast enough that attendees never saw the chaos.
Highlights from Creative Workshop at OCC 2025
For every challenge, there were twice as many highlights that reminded us why we love what we do:
-
Community Conversations. Attendees shared feedback and insights about OCC’s branding, especially the mascot, sparking ideas for future merch collaborations.
-
Photo Op Success. Our custom backdrop became a hotspot for dynamic, shareable photos. (We’ve already seen some floating around social media, and they’re incredible.)
-
A Growing Bond with OCC. Being our second year at Ocala Comic Con, the staff treated us less like vendors and more like part of the team. That sense of belonging is everything.
Rolling With the Punches
My dream as a perfectionist CEO is to run flawless activations where nothing ever goes wrong. But here’s the truth: real business doesn’t work that way.
At events like Ocala Comic Con 2025, the real measure isn’t whether every T-shirt or mug turns out perfect. It’s whether you can roll with the punches, adapt under pressure, and still create memorable experiences for fans.
And that’s exactly what Creative Workshop at Ocala Comic Con 2025 did.
So here’s to aiming high, learning fast, and always remembering the goal: make life more beautiful and more fun through creativity.
